Just when Gemma and Lando are convinced things couldn't get any better for the two of them, their community is rocked when two teenagers go missing. Before Lando has a chance to investigate, the case turns into a double murder on Tribal land, bringing Zeb Longhorn into the mix.

Joining forces, Lando and Zeb set out to deal with two crime scenes less than two miles apart. But the common thread seems to be an old logging road known as Witch Cross Road, a spot known only to locals for its horrific unsolved murders that occurred there more than a hundred years ago.

While Lando and Zeb are busy solving the current case of the two teenagers, Gemma is dragged into the mystery from 1914, unable to let go of its haunting backstory, a backstory that accuses Elizabeth Cross, the family matriarch-a hardworking farm wife-of murdering her entire family. Everyone seems willing to believe the allegations without a shred of proof. Gemma sets out to clear Elizabeth's name. In a twist of fate you won't see coming, she discovers the shocking truth, a truth that will forever change Coyote Wells.
