When the Mountains Wake

Some secrets are buried for a reason.

While vacationing in San Diego, teenage siblings discover a strange black-glass bottle washed ashore. Ancient markings cover its surface, and sealed inside is a mysterious book that may have been hidden beneath the ocean for thousands of years.

They take the bottle home to Phoenix, where their closest friend recognizes its symbols from ancient indigenous writings -but she cannot read them, and the warning they stir inside her comes too late. When the bottle is broken open, the book awakens, revealing words only one of them can understand.

Soon the three friends are pulled into a hidden world of ancient magic, forgotten history, and terrifying giants. But one young giant is different from the monsters described in the legends, and an unexpected connection begins to form -one that could change everything they believe about their enemies.

As mountains awaken and an ancient danger begins to rise, the friends must uncover the truth behind the mysterious book before its power falls into the wrong hands.

Filled with mystery, adventure, danger, friendship, and forbidden love, When the Mountains Wake is the thrilling first installment in a young adult fantasy series where the past was never truly buried -and some legends are waiting to return.
