Secrets and lies propelled Brinya to choose the Defiants; now, she and Kade must help the glitchers escape before the Technocracy turns them all into soulless nightbringers.

Not everyone is happy about my decision to join the Defiants, especially when my arrival delays their escape from the compound. But the Technocracy is growing desperate, they're taking more glitchers than ever before. And with no place for us to go, or any of the resources we need, we're safer in the compound...or so I thought.

I know some of the glitchers think I can't be trusted, that I'm a Technocracy spy sent to destroy them, and without Kade to keep the peace as leader, they'd cast me out. But I can't worry about that right now, when I need to focus on learning everything I can about our unique DNA and how we survive on Earth's surface.

But when Sam blurts out to the entire group that the climoflyer's about to self-destruct, even Kade turns against me. Everyone thinks I've doomed them all. I have no idea how Sam discovered the truth, but I don't have time to convince them otherwise, because the governor's daughter has just shown up to tell me Caleb is in trouble.

Kade refuses to help my former friend. Once again, I must choose between the friend who set me free and the friends who've accepted me. Except this time, defying Kade comes at the ultimate cost. How was I supposed to know it was an ambush?
