Utopia

Utopia: based on the Greek “ou” = not and “topos” = place. A place that doesn’t exist. A plan for or vision of an ideal society, place, or state of existence, esp. one that is impossible to realise: a fantasy, a dream. (Oxford Dictionary)In my artwork, humanity is absent, leaving behind its legacy of objects, buildings, and trash. Flora and fauna are taking over. Animals, mushrooms, lichens, plants, and corals are inhabiting every nook and cranny, thus creating new habitats. This symbiosis between the object and the growing environment reflects the balance and respect that humanity has lost, and that I symbolically recreate in my work by expressing hope, joy, and the beauty of nature in an explosion of color.A DECADE OF ARTThis book showcases a decade of sculptures and selected paintings, along with sketchbook studies, studio pictures, and essays. It starts by explaining the beginnings and what led to my current series on discarded objects. Then, rather than organising the next years chronologically, the artworks are grouped according to recurring themes: growth, overconsumption, trash, insects, and other animals.A COLLECTOR’S CATALOGUEThis book ends with a fully detailed chronological catalogue of all my sculptures and selected paintings, including size, materials, and year of creation. Animaux, champignons, lichens, végétaux et coraux investissent chaque objet, chaque recoin, créant ainsi un nouvel habitat. Cette symbiose entre l’objet et l’environnement traduit l’équilibre et le respect que l’humanité a perdus, et que je recrée symboliquement dans mon travail en exprimant l’espoir, la joie et la beauté de la nature dans une explosion de couleurs.UNE DÉCENNIE D’ARTCe livre présente une décennie de sculptures et de peintures sélectionnées, ainsi que des études de carnets de croquis, des photos d’atelier et des essais. Il commence par expliquer mes débuts et ce qui a conduit à ma série actuelle sur les objets jetés (« discarded objects »). Plutôt que d’organiser les années suivantes chronologiquement, les œuvres sont classées selon des thèmes récurrents : croissance, surconsommation, déchets, insectes et autres animaux.UN CATALOGUE POUR COLLECTIONNEURCe livre se termine par un catalogue chronologique complet et détaillé de toutes mes sculptures et de certaines peintures sélectionnées, avec leurs dimensions, leurs matériaux et leur année de création. Il marque ainsi un moment, une pause pour revenir sur ces dix années d’art et réfléchir à ce que seront les dix prochaines.
