Under The Eagle's Gaze

Angelica father tells her it will be a summer holiday but she knows it is a prison sentence under the watchful gaze of her father's best friend and she will be trapped in a remote hunting lodge in Scotland and left to reflect on her bad behaviour.

Angelica will soon be twenty-one, but her rebellious nature and wild streak have pushed her wealthy parents' patience to breaking point. After their divorce, her behavior has gone from bad to worse and after a brush with the police in Paris, her father packs her off to spend the summer with Colm, an old friend of his who has a remote hunting lodge in the far north of Scotland. At least being there, in the middle of nowhere, her father hopes Angelica might keep out of trouble.
Colm has recollections of Angelica from when he last saw her several years ago, but he is in no way prepared for who lands on his doorstep. The petulant teenager with a penchant for provocative clothing and causing havoc, has turned into a beautiful but wildly destructive twenty-year-old woman, who refuses to work and who uses the allowance from her wealthy father to fuel her decadent lifestyle.
Angelica is consumed with hitting back at her parents for perceived injustices and their increasing disinterestedness in her and when she meets Colm, her mind turns to seducing him so that she can then reveal what has happened to her father and hurt him. Only there are problems with her plan. Firstly, Colm has a girlfriend and she sees through Angelica in a flash and she plans a humiliating downfall for Angelica. Her other problem is Colm: the longer Angelica spends with him, the more intrigued by him and the more attracted to him, she becomes, and even if he is twice her age, she wonders whether he might feel something for her. Trapped by the remote hunting lodge into a forced proximity relationship with Colm, Angelica wonders whether their relationship of benevolent jailer and prisoner be turned into something meaningful.

Under the Eagle's Gaze is a full length novel about an age-gap romance between an emotionally scarred forty-two-year-old man and a rebellious and feisty twenty-year-old woman.
