For the first time, Tucker's abstract nihilism collides with embodied suffering. If God is dead and justice is a human invention, what then becomes of evil? Of responsibility? Of revenge?

As his bond with Wylie deepens, Tucker reaches a radical conclusion: if meaning does not exist, it must be created-and imposed. When he kills the man who raped her, he does not see himself as a monster, but as something else entirely: a man rejecting passivity, forging value through action in a world that offers none.
