When Bernie Bernard becomes involved in trying to stop the poaching of abalone and rhino horn in the Eastern Cape Provence of South Africa, he may have bitten off more than he can chew. Because the local criminal syndicates working with Chinese triads do not take interference in their illegal activities lightly. To complicate matters, an old flame of Bernie's, the beautiful Vietnamese-French woman Martine Rouillard, arrives to attend an anti-poaching conference and to renew her acquaintance with Bernie. But it soon becomes apparent that that is not the only reason she is in the Eastern Cape. And who is the mysterious Leopard, the local boss running the operation on behalf of the Triad? As mystery is piled upon mystery, Bernie has to use all his skills to survive repeated attempts to silence him permanently. Will he survive, and will Martine find what she is looking for?
