Tide Collection/潮汐集

Tide Collection is divided into two parts: Flood Tide and Ebb Tide. This edition includes only the Ebb Tide section, which consists of classical and modern-style poems written by Guo Moruo before 1949, including a few of his early works. The poems are arranged in reverse chronological order, from the most recent to the earliest. Most of them had not been published prior to the compilation of this collection. Some were selected by the author from his diaries, while the rest are works that appeared in various other writings but had never been included in any poetry collection.

《潮汐集》分《潮集》《汐集》两部分，此次只收录了《汐集》部分，是郭沫若解放前所做新旧体诗词，包括少数早期作品。这些诗按写作时间由近至远编排，在编集前大部分没有发表过，其中有些是作者从日记中选录出来的，其余均为散见于其他著作中而没有编入诗集的作品。

Guo Moruo (1892-1978)

Born Guo Kaizhen in Leshan, Sichuan Province, he also used the pen name Guo Dingtang. He was a Chinese writer, poet, and historian. In 1921, together with Yu Dafu, Cheng Fangwu, and others, he founded the Creation Society. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he held a number of important posts, including member of the Central People's Government Council, Vice-Premier of the Government Administration Council and concurrently Director of the Cultural Commission. His representative works include Qu Yuan, The Goddesses, The Tiger Tally, The Flowers of Tangdi, and others.

郭沫若（1892-1978）

原名郭开贞，笔名郭鼎堂，四川乐山人。中国作家、诗人、历史学家。1921年，与郁达夫、成仿吾等人组织创造社。中华人民共和国成立后，历任中央人民政府委员、政务院副总理兼文化委员会主任等职。代表作有《屈原》《女神》《虎符》《棠棣之花》等。
