Thoughts From a Transitional Pastor

If a Transitional Pastor does their work well the new incoming Pastor can enjoy a delightful honeymoon. But being a successful Transitional Pastor is no easy task. If a movement, network, or denomination suggests a Transitional Pastor to a local congregation it is highly possible there are issues needing to be addressed. It has been said that "Only babies like change and even then they cry." A faithful Transitional Pastor may end up engaging staff, worship, children's departments, and obstinate board members. If the church is stuck in the past they may speak vision to the future. If the church is divided they may need to speak strong words calling for unity.

Dr. Reinhard has served as a Director of Youth and Evangelism, Associate Pastor, Lead Pastor, and Transitional Pastor. He has served nine churches and a chapel in three states over his 47 years as a Christ follower. Paul has ministered in Mexico, India, and Africa. He continues to train pastors by Zoom and teach his JumpStart series.
