The Yokai and the Stolen Sword

When a powerful samurai sword vanishes from a storm-ravaged Japanese manor, twelve-year-old Haruto Takeda knows only one thing: his family's honor-and possibly their survival-hangs by a thread. A fearsome white fox-faced yōkai was the thief, or so it seemed. With rival clans circling and war looming, Haruto sets out alone to reclaim the legendary blade Kagebōshi from a haunted bamboo forest.

Meanwhile, in modern-day Creek's Hollow, Reina, Ryder, and Rhett are working at an antique shop when they discover an ancient katana. One curious swing, a crack of thunder, and the magical Cabinet of Time hurls them into feudal Japan-right at Haruto's feet.

Teaming up with the young samurai-in-training and his clever sister Yuki, the friends must outsmart what appears to be a vengeful spirit. But as they venture deeper into the misty bamboo forest, they uncover a surprising truth: not every "demon" is what it seems, and the greatest battles aren't always won with swords.

Blending heart-pounding adventure, clever teamwork, and a touching message about peace, family, and the strength of girls in a male-dominated world, this time-travel tale delivers excitement, mystery, and unforgettable lessons. Perfect for middle-grade readers who love history, magic, and stories where courage and compassion triumph over fear and tradition.

This is the third book in The Cabinet of Time series, which whisks young readers away to different eras of history and lets them experience the rich cultures, traditions, and wonders of the world through thrilling adventures. Ideal for fans of The Chronicles of Narnia, Percy Jackson, and The Magic Tree House who crave time-travel escapades filled with friendship, courage, and discovery.
