The White Field

The White Field follows Tom, a man newly released from prison and desperate to reclaim some version of a future before the world closes in on him again. Dropped back into the industrial wastelands of the city with little money, no stability, and few real options, Tom drifts through dead-end jobs and strange encounters among society's forgotten corners.

As he struggles to reconnect with family and rebuild his life, he becomes entangled with a cast of unforgettable characters: Raphael, a former cop from Mexicali haunting the industrial nightscape; Tony, a stoner philosopher whose understanding of history comes entirely through rock and roll; and Larry, an abusive manager trapped inside the same repetitive machinery that grinds down everyone beneath him.

What begins as an attempt at survival slowly mutates into something darker. Pulled toward the manipulative and dangerous Thane, Tom finds himself slipping into a criminal scheme that becomes increasingly impossible to escape. The deeper he falls, the more freedom itself begins to feel like another kind of prison.

Blending literary fiction, crime drama, dark humor, and surreal atmosphere, The White Field examines incarceration, poverty, masculinity, addiction, labor, and moral exhaustion without falling into easy redemption narratives. It is a strange, sharp, hallucinatory novel about the people society leaves behind and the systems waiting to swallow them whole.
