The Tibetan issue

The Tibetan issue has caused, especially during the second half of the twentieth century, a heated debate that has led to the formation of two opposing sides of supporters: the Chinese and the Tibetans.
In recording the events, a specific ideology to each of the contenders has arisen about the description of fourteen centuries of contacts between the Han (the majority ethnic group in China) and Tibetans, which finds expression in their mutual claims.
In this book, the latter will be specifically examined, starting from the historical premises and arriving at their major evolutionary phases, to finally consider the contemporary situation, with particular reference to the period between the proclamation of the People's Republic of China and the present day.
According to Beijing, "Tibet has been an inseparable part of China since ancient times", whereas according to the Tibetan administration-in-exile, "never before 1949 had the Chinese ever exercised any control over Tibet". Who is right? Like all historical and political issues, the matter is complex and deserves a specific analysis.
In order to have an objective view of the Tibetan issue, it is necessary to impartially analyse history: not only contemporary times, but also remote eras. In this way can be better understood today's positions, which originate from the complex relationship between Tibetans and Chinese, developed over a period of 1,400 years.
This book aims to provide an overall view of the Tibetan issue, with the intent of understanding the situation by removing the filters of ideology.
