The Tangle-Coated Horse and Other Tales

"The Tangle-Coated Horse and Other Tales" is a captivating collection of episodes drawn from the rich tapestry of the Fionn Saga, one of Ireland's most enduring mythological cycles. Retold with the lyrical grace and mystical insight characteristic of Ella Young, these stories follow the legendary hero Finn MacCool (Fionn MacCumhaill) and his band of warriors, the Fianna, as they traverse a world where the boundaries between the mortal realm and the magical Otherworld are thin.

The collection brings to life the extraordinary adventures of Finn, from his youth and the gaining of wisdom to the heroic deeds that cemented his legacy in Gaelic tradition. Readers will encounter enchanted beasts, powerful druids, and the timeless landscapes of ancient Ireland. Young's prose captures the rhythmic beauty of oral tradition, preserving the spirit of the original sagas while making them accessible to modern audiences.

This work serves as an essential gateway into Celtic mythology, offering a vivid exploration of themes such as honor, bravery, and the supernatural. "The Tangle-Coated Horse and Other Tales" remains a significant contribution to the preservation of Irish folklore, celebrating the heroic ideals and imaginative depth of a culture whose stories continue to inspire and enchant.
