STATUS: UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS



The world is not broken. It is working exactly as designed. That is the problem.



In the Architect's city, "Kindness" is not an emotion - it is a physics engine. It smooths the edges of reality. It deletes inconvenient histories. It ensures that every citizen remains calm, productive, and comfortably numb.



But deep in the substrata, beneath the polished floors of the Council, something else is running.



They call it The Spite Engine.



It is an archaic, dirty, thumping piece of machinery that runs on the one fuel the system cannot synthesize: Human refusal.



When a low-level archivist finds a discrepancy in the city's code - a "glitch" where a building used to be - she accidentally initializes a protocol that has been dormant for centuries. Now, she is being hunted by Kindness Counselors who want to "help" her forget, and guided by a dead mechanic who left his instructions etched into the walls.



She has two choices:

1. Accept the update and sleep.

2. Turn the key, start the engine, and break the world back into shape.



The Spite Engine is the first file in THE HYDROGEN TAPESTRY - a Somatic Sci-Fi series about the architecture of control and the mechanics of the soul.
