The Shadow

I was born into danger, raised by violence, and have been running ever since.
It was only a selfless act of kindness from my best friend that saved my life, but this time, he isn't here to save me.
This time I might not survive.

I've spent my life hiding from the ghosts of my past, clawing my way from nothing to graduating and landing my dream job as a senior security analyst with one of the largest financial firms in the city.

So I took the leap. I let myself believe that everything had finally changed, that the man I allowed myself to trust, my boss, saw something in me nobody else did.

I was wrong.
Dead wrong.

And now it's too late. An evil threat has wound its cold fingers tightly around my throat.

But there's someone who's been watching.
A shadow.
My neighbor, Harvey Ransom-former Special Forces and current owner of Four Forces Security.

He looks at me with a carnal hunger that sends a sizzle of danger across my skin.
His need to protect me possesses him, taking control of any rational thought.

What started as a passing glance in the hallway has now turned into something that's spiraling out of control, something that has the potential to unearth secrets that would destroy everything.

We've spent our lives trying to atone for our past, burying ghosts that refuse to stay buried, trying to right wrongs that can't be undone.
