The Screen

When Joseph receives a shiny new tablet for his birthday, his world opens up in exciting ways. Games! Videos! Endless fun! But as the days go by, something strange happens. While the screen glows brighter, the world around him starts to fade into the background.

The Screen is a playful, thoughtful picture book about growing up in a world full of glowing rectangles. With humour, heart, and expressive illustrations, it gently explores what happens when screens take centre stage, and what we might miss when they do.

This isn't a story telling children (or parents) to hide devices away and never touch them again. It's a story about balance. About noticing what's happening around us. About remembering that sometimes the best stuff isn't on a screen at all.

Written by a parent, teacher, and serial idea-chaser who spends his life bouncing between projects (ironically mostly on a device), The Screen invites kids, and the grown-ups reading along, to laugh, think, and maybe look up... just for a moment.
