The teaching unfolds in three parts. First is the gardener analogy: you inherit an inner landscape shaped by earlier conditions; some patterns help, while others quietly create stress and conflict. Second is the READINESS process, a clear sequence of actions that helps you recognise unhelpful patterns, understand what sustains them, and gradually withdraw the attention and belief that fuel them. READINESS stands for recognising with calm, enduring, accepting, discerning danger, investigating, knowing as not-self, seeing as empty and just a suggestion, subject to change, and a path to suffering if followed. With time, reactions that once felt automatic become optional. Third is the skilful gardener: as reactivity softens, you align your choices with what matters, meet challenges with less anxiety, and build a life you don't need to escape from.

This is not a book about perfection, optimisation, or endless self-improvement. It is about seeing and tending the patterns that shape you, so life becomes clearer, lighter, and far less unnecessarily difficult.
