THE QUIET DEVIL

Thomas and his wife, Julia, are a couple in their forties living in Chicago. After a conversation with Daimon Aston-Roth, the CEO of a large financial group, in 2022 Thomas starts trading on the stock market, initially with Aston-Roth's intermittent support, though the latter would prefer Thomas to join his investment group rather than trading on his own. Furthermore, Aston-Roth's character is highly ambiguous, as it's unclear whether he's just a successful businessman or the reincarnation of a devil well-known for centuries in Christian tradition. In any case, his intentions go far beyond the stock market, touching on spiritual and personal issues that even involve Julia, which further complicates the situation.
Initially, Thomas suffers heavy losses with his investment, which decrease as his trading skills improve. He discusses all this with three old-school friends during one of the dinners the four couples occasionally hold. But even the personal relationships among these couples are not what they seem either. Thus, following a murder more than two decades earlier, the crimes begin to pile up...
