Before you decide whether this book is for you, let me tell you why I wrote it.
My first introduction to Manache Shlok happened during my primary school days. Like many students, I memorised and recited a few verses. At that age, I enjoyed their rhythm far more than I understood their meaning.
Although my education and profession have been in technology, I have always been fascinated by people. Over the years, I kept returning to the same questions. Why do people behave the way they do? What shapes our decisions? Why do misunderstandings happen even among good people? Why do we often know the right thing, yet struggle to act on it?
During the Covid years, I returned to Manache Shlok, the Bhagavad Gita and Dnyaneshwari with a different mindset. This book grew from that journey.
So, what is this book?
It is not a translation of Manache Shlok. It is a practical reflection on selected verses that explore the human mind: our thoughts, behaviour, communication, relationships, conflict and leadership-and their relevance to everyday life.
Why did I feel this book was needed?
For three reasons.
First, I wanted to present the timeless wisdom of Manache Shlok in a language and style that speaks naturally to modern readers.
Second, I wanted to build a bridge for younger Marathi-speaking readers, especially those educated in English and living across the world, who may never experience this wisdom in its original language.
Third, I believe these reflections are universal. Anyone seeking to become a better professional, leader or human being can benefit from them.
If these pages encourage you to pause, question an assumption, understand yourself a little better or see others differently, this book will have achieved exactly what I hoped it would.
Welcome to the journey.
