The Oak Tree

Willie and Hanako live in Las Vegas with their daughter, Vega. Willie is a used car salesman who indulges in gambling and spends his earnings without saving for the future. Hanako works tirelessly at three jobs: as a kindergarten assistant, waitress at a Japanese restaurant, and cleaning woman at a retirement home, all while yearning for stability. Vega, influenced by the wrong crowd, is obsessed with social media, cheap fashion, and dating, leading her down a risky path. Fed up with her life and worried about the threat of homelessness, Hanako is torn when she meets Tom, a widower who offers her the secure future she longs for. However, when Willie gets into an accident and is hospitalized, he awakens from a coma with a changed outlook and a newfound religious fervor. Unable to cope with what she perceives as yet another form of addiction, Hanako decides to leave him. Meanwhile, Vega moves in with her boyfriend and begins using drugs. Just as things seem bleak, Hanako confronts her fears and reaches out to an old friend for help, leading to a community intervention that brings the family back together. With Willie's support and Hanako's newfound strength, they work through their struggles, leading to a heartfelt reconciliation and a chance to build a stable future as a family.
