A boy named Pedro and his sister Ana embark on great adventures as they seek to unravel the mystery of Basílio. The story unfolds between their visits to Grandma Glória's house and their time with school friends, especially Lucas and Sofia. Everything takes place in Vista Linda, a rural area. Near where they live, there are two large mango trees by the roadside, which they must pass to visit their grandmother and also to go to school. They are always frightened by their mother, Mrs. Marta, with the story of Basílio. She always warns them to return home before nightfall because Basílio, a very bad man, lurks under the mango trees at night. A suspenseful atmosphere surrounds the entire plot, keeping the reader engaged from the beginning to the end.
