Newlyweds Scarlett and Nathan, on their honeymoon in the Marquesas Islands, follow a family treasure map to a chest buried beneath a majestic waterfall. They mail the treasure home, and soon after, a mischievous pooka appears-a specter that shifts between an old sailor and a playful dog. It seems the copper-clad treasure chest was haunted by the ghost of the sailor who'd buried it, Jimmy Cox, a descendant of Captain William Kidd. It also contains another map, this one leading to a massive treasure buried by Captain Kidd.

Jimmy adjusts to modern times as he settles into Nate and Scarlett's home, an old Victorian mansion sitting high on a bluff overlooking Maine's Casco Bay. With a bottle of rum always within his reach, the quirky spook draws local spirits into a swirl of ghostly nighttime adventures. Moreover, with Jimmy's help, Nate and Scarlett begin a new treasure hunt, which just might unearth much more than they all bargained for.
