The Man Who Forgot How to Stay Dead

The first zombie wasn't a sick man.

He was a dead one who simply refused to stay that way.

In 2090, a secret government program called Caper tried to create soldiers who could survive anything. What it actually created was something far worse: a body that had forgotten how to die. The miracle that was supposed to end disease instead ended the world.

Years later, the ruins still walk.

Illyrian, Cake, Emm, and the quiet, shuffling man they call Dumb have clawed their way out of the nightmare city of Batavia. They thought survival was the hard part. They were wrong. Their new refuge, Yam, is rotting from the inside-infested, secretive, and full of questions no one wants answered. Something connects the dead across the broken map of the world. Something patient. Something that has already breached the last walls.

And Dumb, the man who has been dead longer than most people have been alive, is starting to remember.

What he remembers may be worse than the hunger.

A haunting, character-driven descent into a world where the greatest danger isn't the dead outside the door-it's the rot that grows quietly inside the living.
