The Life and Labors of Archibald McLean

"The Life and Labors of Archibald McLean" is a comprehensive biography detailing the significant contributions and spiritual journey of one of the most prominent leaders in the history of Christian missions. Written by William Robinson Warren, the work documents the tireless efforts of Archibald McLean, particularly his instrumental role in the growth and development of the United Christian Missionary Society. The narrative traces McLean's life from his early years through his decades of dedicated service as a secretary and leader for the Foreign Christian Missionary Society, illustrating his unwavering commitment to the global spread of the Gospel.

The book provides an in-depth look at the administrative and evangelical challenges faced by mission boards during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Warren meticulously portrays McLean's character-marked by self-sacrifice, intellectual rigor, and a profound sense of duty-while exploring the broader historical context of the Stone-Campbell Movement. This account serves as both an inspiring portrait of a devoted religious servant and an essential historical record of the institutional development of American missionary work. It is an invaluable resource for those interested in church history, ecclesiastical leadership, and the evolution of international mission strategies.
