The Krampusnacht Covenant of Black Forest

When linguist Leonie Keller returns to her family's ancestral cabin deep in the Black Forest to settle her grandmother's estate, she finds a world bound by suffocating silence and cryptic rituals. The villagers treat her with a chilling hostility, a strange nursery rhyme follows her through the fog, and a single, cloven hoofprint in the snow outside her door warns that she has already broken an unspoken rule.

Leonie has unknowingly inherited a centuries-old debt. Her family is bound to an ancient covenant with the Forest, an agreement that demands perfect adherence to seven rituals performed on Krampusnacht. But the covenant has been broken, and now the Auditor-a silent, faceless entity that collects on spiritual debts-has come to balance the ledger.

As the cabin itself begins to revert to a more primitive, ritualistic form and Leonie is haunted by beautiful but impossible memories of a childhood that never happened, she uncovers the horrifying truth in a cursed family ledger: The Book of Names. The Auditor does not want her life; it wants her identity. It is overwriting her, memory by memory, preparing to repossess her soul to pay for the sins of an ancestor.

To save herself and an innocent child caught in the crossfire, Leonie must navigate a nightmare of contractual folklore, where hospitality is a trap and forgetting is a crime. Armed with a heretical hymn and the ghost of her ancestor's memories, she must confront the Auditor and find a loophole in a contract written in blood and shadow.

A chilling tale of atmospheric folk horror, The Krampusnacht Covenant of the Black Forest explores a world where ancestral guilt is a binding contract, and the ultimate horror is not being killed, but being unwritten.
