Governor's Witch

An intricate tale of witchcraft, flintlock magic, and a realm of ghosts.

Kate Finch trusts in her abilities at the unseen arts-but can she trust in herself?

Boston, 1742. Kate feels like an imposter-even though she's Boston's Minister of Magickal Sciences, as well-versed in magic and witchcraft as anyone who's ever held the office. Yet between the unending gossip swirling about her and the secret burden of her past, she wonders if she's up for the job.

When her most vocal critic approaches her with a mystery stranger than any she's known, she faces a chance to prove to herself-and her ambitious competitors for power-that the governor's faith in her is well-placed.

But soon, Kate confronts unquiet spirits immune to her witchcraft, signs of a deadly ghost realm, and a woman both dead and undead.

Into this riddle steps a rival unlike any she'd encountered: the only other witch in the Colonies.

Can Kate unlock the secret of the dead while staying one step ahead of a sociopathic rival? Will she uncover the unseen hand at work behind the uncanny magic? And can she prove to herself she's worthy of the office she holds?

Magic, mystery, and the infernal come alive in this sharp and intricate fantasy novel from the author of The Books of Conjury.
