Gordon Wren came to sell kitchen appliances, not get mistaken for a covert operative.

On a work trip wrapped around an international summit, Gordon finds himself drawn into a chain of increasingly impossible events: a suspicious house, a compromised hotel, criminal logistics disguised as ordinary service traffic, and a conspiracy moving through luxury spaces under the cover of catering equipment, conference stock, and premium domestic hardware.

The professionals around him all make the same mistake. They assume Gordon must be hiding advanced training.

He is simply a middle-aged salesman who has spent years being ignored in rich houses, loading bays, hotel corridors, and badly managed demonstration environments. He knows when packaging is wrong. He knows when a route makes no practical sense. He knows when someone is carrying an object like it matters more than they do.

That turns out to be enough to wreck everything.

As intelligence officers, collapsing criminals, and one elegant architect of chaos close in, Gordon becomes the most useful person in the building for reasons he finds personally insulting. To everyone else, he looks like a master improviser. To Gordon, he is just trying to stop fools from ruining expensive equipment and possibly Europe.

A fast, funny spy thriller with sharp dialogue, mounting absurdity, and a hero whose greatest weapon is competent annoyance.
