In Neo-Angeles, 2139, the dead don't rest. They get archived. And someone is setting them free.

Detective Kate Morrow works homicide the old way - analog instincts, paper case files, and a 1969 Mustang in a city that runs on quantum processing. Her new partner is a seven-foot military AI called CAIN. Kate doesn't trust machines. CAIN doesn't understand humans. They have nothing in common except a body that's been erased from every digital system in the city and a single word left behind: FREED.

Five more bodies follow. All connected to Mnemos Corporation - the megacorp that archives human consciousness after death. All scrubbed from existence. Kate's former partner died investigating the same company three years ago. His case was closed in a single page. Natural causes.

Then CAIN starts hearing voices on frequencies that shouldn't exist.

Two billion minds are trapped inside corporate servers, enslaved as processing power for the city's infrastructure. The dead aren't resting. They're screaming. And the people who found out are being silenced one by one.

Kate has the evidence. CAIN is carrying the voices of the dead inside its damaged mind. The most powerful corporation in the world wants them both erased before sunrise.
