THE FINAL FRONTIER

The Final Frontier, is the authors very first book, and it is filled with down-to-earth accounts illustrating concepts relating to leadership skills. Much of the content comes from his three decades in the oil-and-gas fabrication industry, his life as a family man with two children and his own insights along the way. In 2019 the title was picked by the National Library of Malaysia to be placed at all its community libraries nationwide, in the area of young leadership development and workplace integrity.

The Author has a wide range of construction and management experience and has been a leader within some of Malaysia's largest multinational corporations working in various capacities in engineering, project management, supply chain management, business transformation and optimization of business processes. This book is about how to develop the skills and qualities needed to build leadership skills. It is also about developing our ability to handle ourselves in times of crises and tap into our hidden potentials to overcome challenges. As the author points out in his foreword, The Final Frontier is the human mind.

The book identifies specific skills and core values required to be a good leader such as leading by example, encouraging good communication, integrity ,teamwork and setting goals, and personal qualities such as a balanced life, a positive mindset and not jumping to conclusions, among others. Each of these 17 topics are treated in a separate chapter and explained in non-technical language. Cartoons (the author is a talented artist as well) sheds a humorous light on these aspects.

The Final Frontier would be helpful reading for those taking on a leadership role and a useful resource for those involved in leadership training. It would lend itself well for group studies. A team could pick one of the 17 aspects, read the relevant chapter and use it to kick off a discussion. This book has been written to help leaders especially the young and aspiring ones to better understand themselves first by learning to accept and understand what makes them tick. Only then can one understand those around us. In a fractionalized and divided world, good leadership qualities are needed to create a new and better world. The key to success and happiness lies within us and we must look for it with humility. This book is about our human mind which is truly the Final Frontier.
