The Doctrine of Christian or Evangelical Perfection

"The Doctrine of Christian or Evangelical Perfection" is a rigorous theological investigation into the concept of spiritual maturity and the pursuit of holiness within the evangelical tradition. Authored by Harold William Perkins, this work provides a comprehensive analysis of the scriptural and historical foundations of the doctrine of perfection. The text focuses on the process of sanctification and the means by which a believer can strive toward a state of spiritual wholeness and devotion to God.

Drawing heavily upon Wesleyan traditions and broader Methodist thought, Perkins explores the practical and theoretical implications of achieving a higher life of grace. The work addresses critical questions regarding sin, divine grace, and the transformative influence of the Holy Spirit on the individual soul. By synthesizing historical dogma with the needs of the spiritual practitioner, the book offers a structured defense of the possibility of moral and spiritual advancement in the life of a Christian.

Suitable for scholars of systematic theology and those interested in the history of the holiness movement, "The Doctrine of Christian or Evangelical Perfection" serves as an essential guide to understanding one of the core tenets of Methodism. Its scholarly depth and clarity make it a timeless contribution to the study of Christian life and the development of evangelical doctrine.
