The death of a lord forces Tamsin Urbane and her parents to move to Empyria, but after an accident leaves Tamsin stranded in the dunes, she must rely on the help of a daunting stranger, whose presence illuminates an unbelievable gift and an even more impossible truth. Haven, a nocturnal hunter from the fertile tribal villages of the marshlands, has come to confront the Empyrians, but a growing affection for Tamsin creates an unwelcome obstacle, for love is not an option for his kind.
