When a silver wind leads Elliora and Tiras into the Valley of Seasons, they meet Master Barnaby, a wise old badger who has one lesson above all others: wisdom is not collected like treasure. It must be practiced.

Across eighteen illustrated adventures, brother and sister face tempting shortcuts, hard choices, unwise companions, wounded pride, honest work, and the quiet passing of time. Elliora, a thoughtful fifth grader, and Tiras, an eager second grader, don't always get it right, but each journey brings them closer to understanding what lasts.

The Book of Paths takes familiar sayings, proverbs, and even a few well-known poems and philosophical ideas, and tests them against truth rather than repeating them as internet folklore. Where a saying has grown a popular but doubtful origin story, this book says so, and teaches the real lesson underneath instead.

Each chapter pairs a full-color illustration with a short story and a clear takeaway, grounded throughout in Scripture from the King James Version. Back matter includes plain-language notes on the trickier references (a nod to Robert Frost, Jean-Paul Sartre, and the real meaning of "survival of the fittest") and discussion questions for families and classrooms.
