This book is written to explain that moveing first coupled with white moving the king pawn to square E4 on the chess board is the one opening move which gives a player the most development, positioning, and control of the board center of all possible opening moves that can be made. Miltown encourages readers to use the same reasoning through all moves as he teaches them to use for the first move when opening a game.

Miltown also invites readers to take hold of the Best move in life. The best move in life is, in this author's view, to accept and claim the free gift of salvation which God has offered to all of mankind through the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross. Mitchell hopes readers will be inspired to view all of life through the strategical eyes of a chess player and always will make the Best move.
