The 11 General Orders - Veterans Edition

You may have left the military, but the 11 General Orders never left you.

From your earliest days of military training, the General Orders taught you responsibility, awareness, accountability, discipline, and the importance of standing your post. They helped shape the service member you became. But those lessons were never meant to end when you took off the uniform.

Different post. Same strength.

Success Beyond Service: The 11 General Orders invites veterans from every branch of the Armed Forces to rediscover the character strengths they developed through military service and recognize how those strengths continue to serve them in civilian life.

Written by retired Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer, veteran, and educator Dr. Jackie Kyger, this book takes the familiar 11 General Orders beyond the military installation, ship, or duty station and brings their lessons into everyday life.

Through practical examples, personal reflection, and the Recognize-Translate-Apply (RTA) approach, readers learn to recognize the strengths they already possess, translate those strengths into civilian situations, and apply them with renewed purpose.

Inside, you'll discover how to:

• Recognize the 11 character strengths developed through military service.
• Translate military lessons into everyday civilian experiences.
• Apply responsibility, awareness, accountability, communication, commitment, obedience, discipline, preparedness, judgment, respect, and assertiveness to life's challenges.
• Strengthen relationships, personal growth, and your sense of purpose.
• Put those strengths into action through Positive Emotion Challenges and practical reflection.

This is not another book telling veterans how to leave the military behind. It is a reminder that the lessons learned in service remain part of who you are.

Whether you recently separated, retired years ago, or have spent decades building a civilian life, the 11 General Orders still have something to teach you.

You stood your watch. You answered the call. You learned to serve with purpose.

Your military service may be complete, but your strengths remain on duty.

The 11 General Orders are still with you.

Your next mission awaits.
