In the quiet border town of Briar Hollow, Texas, the sky fractures.

At first the cracks resemble lightning-branching arcs spreading across the horizon like antlers made of darkness. Then the animals begin moving in unnatural formations. Deer kneel in the streets. Flocks of scavenger birds guard invisible corridors. And beneath the Briar Hollow Museum of the Unseen, something ancient begins knocking from the other side of reality.

Rowan Cross and his wife Maeve have spent years documenting strange phenomena across Texas. But when the fractures spread beyond the town and begin appearing across the state, they realize the truth is far worse than a localized haunting.

An intelligence known only as the Thorned Witness is claiming territory.

As leaders fall under possession, plagues carve branching patterns beneath human skin, and cryptid colonies migrate across the plains, the sky itself becomes part of an expanding crown over North America.

Civilization begins to tremble.

Governments collapse into confusion.

And the only resistance forming at the center of the first fracture is a small group inside a museum that refuses to kneel.
