This book contains an in-depthand rigorous analysis of the factors contributing toand militating against democracy in Tanzania. Usinga state-party fusion thesis, the book provides adeeper understanding of democratization by examiningthe institutions and behaviour of political actorsas well as historical and contemporary dynamics intoa theoretical framework that underscores theanomalies, dilemmas and paradoxes in practicingdemocracy.
