Talking Departed

Fragment taken from the story:

He slams me again against the gate.

The air gets knocked out of my lungs but I have to keep going. I get up.

I duck and avoid his fist hitting my face; a stray bullet goes through my arm, it hurts like hell.

The guy punches me on the stomach, making me bounce against the gate, yet again.

It was three times too many, the gate behind me gives way.

I fall backwards into the cemetery.I can't be here... I just can't....

He next jumps on me and starts strangling me as I lay on the ground.

I see all the deceased at the cemetery, making a circle around us.

All of them voice out their questions and feelings to me at once.

"Excuse me! Can you tell me what's this place?" "Can you give my parents a message for me?""Get me out of here! Please! I didn't kill myself, you have to convince them! Please? ""Can you check on my brother over there? He's not moving, I don't know what's wrong with him...""That cop was going to shoot me; so I shot first, tell them that! It was self-defense, boy""I'm scared, I don't like it in here... I need to go back home...""Today is my birthday, do you know if they remembered? Hello? Can you hear me?""Do you know if it's gonna rain tonight? Shall I take my umbrella with me?""You have to help me! I don't belong in this place! They left me here but I don't belong here! Tell them I don't belong here!""I wanna go home! I don't like it in here.... I wanna go home to my Mom!"

Their screams are driving me insane.

Someone has taken the guy off of me already.

But I still can't breathe from the punch to the stomach. All those dead people are draining my energy fast, it's like being in hell or purgatory.

They all want out.
