No one tells you it will feel like this.

They do not tell you that you can love someone deeply and also wish, just for one afternoon, that this was not your problem to carry.

Surviving Parenting: Aging Parents is not a book about estate planning or medical directives. Those books exist. This one is about something harder: the emotional patterns underneath the impossible choices.

Nine scenarios. The conversation where you realize they are not actually fine. The sibling group chat where everyone has opinions and you are the only one doing the work. The financial crisis that arrives without warning. The moment you are handed a consent form and your parent is saying no and the doctor is waiting and there is no right answer, only a choice.

Each scenario gives you multiple ways to respond, because different approaches reveal different patterns. You will see what each choice costs you, what it gives you, and what it tells you about how you function under real pressure. Not what you should do. What you actually do, and why, and what that means.

This book will not make caregiving easier. Nothing can make this easy. But it might make the chaos feel less isolating. It might give you language for what you are experiencing when no one else seems to understand. It might help you feel a little less alone in one of the hardest things a person can be asked to do.
