Noah Berlatsky's book of found words rivals the greats of cut-up and collage poetry. A meticulous thief, a gentleman poet, he attacks the problems of the modern world with a post-modern bent that sublimates the very idea of poetry. Nothing could be farther from the heart of the matter, but somehow he approaches near to the centre of the affair.
As I read through this short collection, I was pleasantly surprised at how often I found myself forgetting that these poems are nothing more than machine poetry. The human element is strong within them and there is a definite element of the author's hand despite the poems' origins. This is machine poetry for the modern world, but it is also human poetry for a failing mindset. We are doomed to replacement and replication, but why not inject a little poetry into it?
