The site of the murder,
a corpse wrapped in silk thread-
Website.
BLOOD SPLATTERED SKY is a case file of 32 short horror poems by Tim Poe. They're sharp, brutal, and over before you can look away.
Laid out like evidence from a crime scene, the collection moves through four exhibits:
Exhibit A: The Scene. A knife on the breeze, an axe that slips, crows calling murder into the night.
Exhibit B: The Body. Rot, lesions, a corpse that still gets its hair combed.
Exhibit C: The Witnesses. Ghosts in every room, a lullaby for a baby whose head hangs too heavy, and a puppet maker's steel-hearted boy.
Exhibit D: The Confession. The ones who did it, telling you why.
Written in haiku, senryu and micropoetry, every poem first appeared on X as @TimPoeThePoet in answer to the daily #vss365 and horror prompts. None of them appear in his earlier chapbooks, CYCLONE or GREENFIELD.
Read it in one sitting with the lights low, and remember your sins.
