Songs of the Sweet Silver Bird

Through poetry we reveal ourselves and our view of the world around us. A poem can express deep thoughts, powerful questions, invoke laughter or bring us to tears in just a few words. It is said that the eyes are the window of the soul, but poetry is the spirit that carries the soul forward and gives it voice. Poetry is what touches the soul and brings it life.

This is a collection of poems, but far more than that, this is a record of who the poet was and of the life that created her. Deborah Birch, known by many as The Sweet Silver Bird, was a skilled poet with the power to touch the soul with her words. Her words flew from the page and sang with a voice of true beauty. She wrote of life, of hardships and joys. She wrote of who she was and what she saw. She wrote of passion and of fears, of beliefs and hopes and most of all, of people and life. She wrote her soul, her life, her legacy, and she wrote it with moving imagery captured by her mastery of words.

The Sweet Silver Bird sings no more, she passed from this world on June 6th, 2023 at 28 minutes past midnight, but her words and therefore her essence live on forever through her poetry. This collection of her poems has been carefully presented to share her life with the world. With highs and lows, the laughter and tears, the good times and the hard times it will take you on a journey that will touch you. The measure of a poet is in their ability to bring out the emotions in another with nothing more than their words, and by this standard, Deborah Sweetsilverbird Birch was a mighty poet.
