The afternoon sun hung low over the village of N'goma, casting long shadows across the red earth. Anoji and his little brother, Kito, raced through the tall grasses near the riverbank, their laughter carrying lightly on the warm breeze. The scent of wildflowers and fresh earth filled the air as they chased each other around the baobab trees, their bare feet stirring up soft clouds of dust."Catch me, Anoji!" Kito called, eyes bright with joy. Anoji smiled, feeling the weight of the day's heat ease with each breath. He sprinted after his brother, their steps pounding a rhythm as old as the land itself. For these moments, the world was nothing but a game-a simple chase beneath the wide African sky. They zigzagged through the grass, the golden light dappling their skin, until suddenly, Kito stumbled and cried out, clutching his leg. Anoji's heart leapt. He looked down and saw the flash of red, black, and yellow scales coiled tightly around Kito's ankle-a coral snake, its bright colors warning of deadly venom. Without hesitation, Anoji's eyes darted to a nearby rock. "Hold still, Kito!" he urged. Gripping the rock tightly, Anoji brought it down hard on the snake's head.
