Lillian wants to take swimming lessons-just like many of her friends. But when she arrives at the children's pool, the noise, splashing, and fast-paced instructions make everything feel overwhelming. She worries about sinking, about not being heard, and about not being able to keep up.

With warmth and sensitivity, Scared to Swim / Uppoava uimari follows Lillian's journey as she faces her fears one small step at a time. Her parents encourage her gently, and when she begins practicing with Dad, she discovers what trust, patience, and persistence can achieve.

Told side-by-side in English and Finnish, this bilingual picture book is perfect for multilingual families, early language learners, and classrooms. The story empowers young readers to try new things, build confidence, and understand that courage doesn't mean never being afraid-it means taking a step forward even when you are.
