There, Markus begins a destructive sexual relationship with Cookie, a pregnant prostitute whose loneliness mirrors his own grief over Labrenda.

But the Longfellow is not just a shelter-it is a trap. A tenant is found brutally slaughtered, his room soaked in blood and human filth. The unmistakable stench of rotting, yellow pus reveals the truth: Rashma, Markus's mutilated demonic rival, has found him again.

Amid this chaos, Markus unlocks a terrifying ability from the Devil's Bible: Soul Feeding, a method that allows him to consume blood and souls without killing-ensuring eternal strength. When Markus's blood is ingested by Ed's violent lover Brandle, Markus hunts him down in Griffith Park, ripping out his heart in a brutal necrotic execution to prevent the rise of another destroyer like Rashma.

In the end, Markus sells the diamond he names RAPTURE, buries his love, severs his humanity, and leaves Los Angeles with only purpose: to return to Tennessee, fulfill the prophecy, reclaim vengeance-and rise as Saint Markus, Keeper of the Sacred Writ and ruler of a new demonic order.
