Captain Alex Coleman never asked to be a legend.

Captain Alex Coleman is at the top of his game. Fresh off defeating the "best submarine captain in the world," he's well-nigh unbeatable...or so everyone says. But World War III remains a desperate conflict, and the United States and her allies have their backs against the wall. Alliance submarines and their crews continue to disappear at an alarming rate, so it's up to Alex and the crew of USS Bluefish to pull impossible mission after impossible mission off yet again.

This time, it won't be easy. No one's going to underestimate Alex ever again. Even worse, he finds himself-an introvert with the habit of saying just the wrong thing when a camera is around-saddled with the submarine navy's first embedded reporter. Facing a rival in the form of his own former captain, who hates the very ground Alex stands on, as well as enemy submariners burning to make their reputation out of bringing him down, Alex must figure out how to keep pulling off the miracles that his country needs to keep them in the fight. But as missile shortages cripple the surface fleet, the pressure just keeps ratcheting up...

And when a new threat rises in the form of his old French enemy Camille Dubois-the same woman who chased him off of Armistice Station in the opening moments of the war-Alex faces the hardest choice of his career. Does he risk civilian lives to take down France's new superstar, or does he hold fire, leaving her to wreak havoc on Alliance submarines?

Rule the Waves continues the story of the submariners fighting World War III against mounting odds, including Alex Coleman and the crew of USS Bluefish in the series War of the Submarine.
