Based on my true story

This is my real-life story; everything in this book... unfortunately, it is the truth, even though it's difficult for me to talk about it. This book was written from real events that happened in my life.

Nothing in this book was fabricated or used to start a conflict. No male-bashing was intended, nor is it encouraged. I simply spoke the truth about what happened, my thoughts, and my experiences.

Fear. Rage. Frantic. Pain. Broken. Those feelings constantly and consistently recycle through my head. Over and over again. Will another man treat me better or worse than my ex-husband did? Will this happen again? Could I ever trust another man again?

I'm writing this book as a form of self-therapy. Normally, I'm a drama fiction author, and I considered turning my experiences into another story. However, given my life experiences, I felt it needed to be non-fiction.

It needed to be told exactly as I lived it. Raw and unfiltered. There's someone out there just like me who's going through or has gone through the same things I am, and I hope this helps them feel seen and understood.

As a 39-year-old Black Christian woman, specifically an ordained pastor, people expect me to know where I'm going, what I'm about to do next, and just have all the answers. None of what I went through was planned. None of it.
