A few years ago, I was working in property management, a conventional, in-person job with no connection to tech. I was middle-aged, had zero technical background, and honestly had no idea what half the job postings I saw even meant. But I wanted something different: flexibility, remote work, and a career that didn't require me to be physically present five days a week.
So I figured it out. I Googled terms during my first meetings. I learned tools on the fly. I translated skills I didn't realize I had into language that made sense to hiring managers. Four years later, I'm a customer experience manager leading teams at a tech company, fully remote.
