Remarks On Transportation, And On A Recent Defence Of The System

"Remarks On Transportation, And On A Recent Defence Of The System" offers a critical examination of the British penal practice of transportation during the 19th century. Authored by Richard Whately, this work delves into the arguments surrounding the transportation of convicts to penal colonies, dissecting its effectiveness, morality, and societal impact. Whately's analysis engages with contemporary defenses of the system, providing a nuanced perspective on the debates of the time. This volume is a valuable resource for understanding the historical context of British penal policy and the evolving attitudes towards crime and punishment.
