The various regulations in the solid waste sector constitute a source of enforceable environmental obligations. However, the mere existence of environmental regulations does not guarantee their effective compliance. In order to achieve a country's development that promotes a balance between productive or service activities and environmental protection, it is essential to ensure an adequate level of compliance by those being regulated during supervisory actions. This research examines the case of the Huánuco region in Peru, analysing the relationship between integrated solid waste management and the level of compliance by those subject to regulation in areas degraded by solid waste, which were supervised by the country's environmental enforcement agency. By verifying the existence of a relationship, the aim is to promote compliance with environmental obligations, ensuring that regulations are not merely recorded in documents but become an effective reality in solid waste management.
