Freedom is a hunger not easily quenched.

Rieka Nicora is Wolf-Blessed, a human who possesses the instincts and capabilities of a wolf. Once a devoted follower of the very gods who blessed her, she is now a criminal - on the run for a crime, she cannot remember committing - willing to do anything in her power to reach the one place where her god's eyes cannot see.

Rhydian Kanyk is the leader of the Kensillan Resistance. His only goal in life is to free his people from five centuries of imprisonment. And if it means making deals with slavers to obtain that freedom he is willing to take on that burden.

When a violent outburst of her blessing leads to Rieka's imprisonment in the very place Rhydian calls home, and to her discovery that the cost of his freedom is her own, they find themselves at odds.

Wielding one another's greatest secret as a weapon for the other's destruction, they make a bet. To see who will gain their freedom first.

Yet with each passing day that their deadline draws near, the line between truth and façade begins to blur, and Rhydian finds himself craving Rieka's touch. But with his people's freedom on the line, is he truly willing to give his heart to a wolf?
